Paul: What are your hobbies and recreational activities?

Dale: Recreation? What’s that? If I want to read I have to go lock myself in the bathroom...and hope no-one needs to use the facilities while I gather my thoughts on my porcelain fortress of solitude.

A stroll out to the mailbox today (O.K., so I sent my son) revealed the mailman had left me a jiffy bag from Fantasist Enterprises.  Inside were a couple of copies of their lastest release, "Bash Down the Door and Slice Open the Badguy."  An antholgy book filled with adventure, humor, swords & sorcery, and best of all, a story by me, called, "Heard It."  Check out the Store page of the site for ordering details.

CHECK IT OUT!  Viper Comics is set to release the latest addition to the growing catalog of books by yours truly.  SIDEKICKIN' is about those guys who don't get the glory but usually make all the difference.  They never get the spotlight, never get the girl and never get the credit they deserve.  Sidekicks, sometimes we need them more than we know.

An interview I did with jazmaonline posted today.  You can go to their interviews page and look for the fat old lady next to the smokin' hot model unzipping the leatherette body-suit (yeah, like ANYONE is gonna click on MY interview next that THAT!!!) or you can just click on this link. (Don't think I don't know you went looking for the hot model.  Just make sure you read MY interview afterwards.)

Just heard last night that I get alittle mention in Wizard #186.  If you look in their "40 things you need to know about indie comics in 2007" section you'll find that coming in, just under the wire at #39 is a little book I wrote.  Now granted, it's only just in there, but when you consider just how many indie books are out there (a whole lot more than 40); AND that most people read the first few on a list like that, then skip forward to look at the Top Five, I'm happy!  See the link on the reviews page.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  OK, so I'm nearly two months late.  I bin busy.  Lots of projects bubbling and I'm hoping to even be able to talk about them soon.  More reviews added to that section and in the coming few days there may even be a link to an interview.  Watch this space!  (OK, so maybe watching this space isn't the speediest way to find things out about me, but what ya gonna do?  Anyone who wants to apply for the position of Assistant, can drop me a message.  Though I warn ya, the hours suck, the pay is non-existant and the boss is a real pain.)

The listing for "The Pub at the Center of the Universe" on Amazon.com now has an author profile page set up to go with it, so you can get to chat with me (I'll try not to be boring) or chat with others who have read my work.  Click here, but mind your manners, there's a good chance my Mom will be lurking and she's likely to come slap your legs if you're rude.

October 23rd, 2006
"The Pub at the Center of the Universe" is now available at via Amazon.com.  Click here and order it already.  You won't be disappointed.

It would seem that like Mark Twain before it, the rumors of DailySwan Publishing's death have been somewhat exaggerated.

Things seem to be back on track and all systems go.  "The Pub at the Center of the Universe" now looks like it will get it's official release sometime mid to late October.  Look out for more news as I have it.

"Morbid Myths: Overdue Collections" is now available at Comixpress.  It also received it's first review.  Check out the review page on the site for details and a link to the full review.

Today I got up to the following email waiting for me.

This is to notify you that as of today, Dailey Swan Publishing, Inc, is ceasing operations.
I realize this is a late date for some of you, but in the end money ran out and promisies of funding proving worthless.  I spent through today trying to find a way to go forward without finding one.
That's right, the publisher about to release my novel is no more.  As you can imagine, kinda took the wind out of my sails.  On the plus side, I coulda received that email tomorrow, while I was flying to LA to launch a book that is not now going to be released.
So anyone out there looking to publish an awesome book, filled with action, adventure, aliens, a fast food franchise and the end of the Universe, drop me a message.
Until then, you'll find me weeping in a corner.

Where does the time go to?  I'm currently working on a whole bunch of exciting projects.  Perhaps more exciting is that several are coming up to being ready for launch.  In light of this I've added a new page to the site.  The "store" will be where you can find links and information about the release of all my works and ways to buy them.  All are very reasonably priced, great entertainment and excellent value for money.  Best of all, everything available makes a perfect gift.

BIG NEWS!

That's right, folks.  I remembered I had a website.

BIGGER NEWS!

I remembered I had a space on that website to list all the new and exciting things that have been going on with friendly neighborhood Writing Monkey!

BIGGEST NEWS!

I finally managed to work in a little time to actually write something here.
"So what's been going on?" I hear you mumble in a tone clearly illustrating your indifference to me after I so shameless ignored you for the last couple of months.
Glad you ask!
Since we last chatted, I've been working on several projects, all exciting in their own way.
On the film front the short movie, "A Knight Time Story" has now moved into post-production and looks to be making great progress.  Linked to this, I delivered the feature length version of the script to From the Flames Productions over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend.
On the comicbook front there's lots of action.  "Kickin'" a one shot currently being penciled by the amazingly talented Drew Moss (you can check out some of his sample artwork here) is progressing well and should be finished and ready for printing sometime this summer.
Comicbooks I've written for Hard Way Studios are all progressing well and either almost ready for printing, or are doing the rounds looking for bigger publishers to launch through.
To build on this, I'm currently working on a couple of independent projects with art teams I've pulled together myself.  I'll have more information on these projects, along with some samples of the artwork as it evolves, in coming weeks and months.  The tentative titles for these projects are "The Unmentionables" and "Flake & Whimsey, Incorporated."  The art teams I'm working with on these projects are very talented and I'm really excited to see what they come up with as visual representations of the the strange things I put down on paper.
Perhaps the biggest news is that my debut novel "Pub At The Center Of The Universe" has been picked up by a small publishing house on the West Coast.  If everything thing runs smoothly, the book will get its official launch at the WorldCon in LA this summer.  Very cool!
I'm also now looking to see if I can get some either agent or manager representation.  Things have been going well so far, but I think it's time to push up to the next level.
And even with all these exciting things going on, I'm working on my second novel as well as a couple of other projects that I'm not allowed to talk about yet.
So as you can see, I may have neglected you, and for that I'm truly sorry, but it isn't like I've just been sitting on the sofa all day, watching soaps and eating Cheetos.

Busy busy busy.  Almost a month since the last update!  Two issues of the three part "Captor of Torments" story have been written and accepted by HWS with the final part hopefully being delivered this weekend.  "A Knight Time Story" is in full production and shooting in Texas, as I type.  "Overdue Collections," again for HWS is now drawn, inked and lettered and looks great.  I'm working on several other projects now, in various stages of development.  Look out for more news soon.

January 27th, 2006
Work on my next project for HWS is progressing.  Slowly, but it's progressing.  Darker and more serious in tone that "Overdue Collections," the new project, "Captor of Torments" looks to be a really exciting project and one that will allow me to flex my creativity in a different direction.
January 27th, 2006
More news on "Overdue Collections" from HWS.  Fully inked and lettered artwork for the first six pages has been completed and pulled together into a Retailers' Preview  comic.  This is the reason for the delay in the release of the full comic.  Hopefully, the retailers will see this, be blown away with the quality and order lots of copies.  The release date has been bumped a further five days to April 20th.  I can only assume that the retailers are either really slow readers, or will need time to order and receive delivery of many many copies.
January 27th, 2006
The final draft of "A Knight Time Story" has been delivered to FTFP.

January 24th, 2006
A comic book script I wrote before Christmas made it to the studio of an amazing artist, Drew Moss (you can find a link to some of his work on the "links" page).  So far all I've seen are concept sketches and page thumbnails, but those are enough to make me very excited about what the finished piece will look like.  When you get to collaborate with talent like Drew, it's not really work.
January 24th, 2006
More news on "Overdue Collections" from HWS.  Artwork continues to come into to me and amazingly, the quality just gets better and better.  The release date has been bumped ten days to April 15th, but this is so HWS can send out preview copies in advance of the general release date.
January 24th, 2006
"A Knight Time Story" for FTFP is progressing at a good clip.  Shooting days have been set in place and some of the roles have been cast.

January 15th, 2006
Final decisions have been made by the Creator on my next project with HWS.  Now starts the hard part of actually writing the script for this exciting new comic book, called Captor of Torments.
January 15th, 2006
The script for Overdue Collections has received the full green-light from the HWS Editor, so now the artwork starts to pump out proper.  Look out for samples coming soon.  A release date for this comic book has been set for April 5th, 2006.
